Kitchen Confidential: Expand Your Storage Space with Drawers

Many of us know that drawers in the kitchen can make life easier. There’s no need to rummage through a pot, a plate, or a bag of potato chips in a dark, deep cabinet when you just slide the drawer into a well-lit area. But the possibilities for pulling out go beyond traditional pantry-style drawers. These special drawers for specific items can enhance the functionality of the kitchen.

1. Utensils storage. Do you often spend too much time looking for cookware in a drawer that is filled with a whole bunch of garbage? Hang them next to the stove and it’s impossible to ignore your favorite spatula.

2. Microwave drawer. The knives and pantry in this photo may have caught your eye, but the real gem is the microwave drawer, which slides out and enters from the top. I use one for almost all of my small projects these days because it keeps the microwave away from the counter or wall and is ergonomic and suitable for everyone in the family.

3. Knife holder. Now that I’ve piqued your interest in drawing knives, this sliding slaughter block might satisfy your needs. It accommodates knives of various sizes and is easy to access. Since the handle is up, it is also much safer than digging in a knife drawer.

4. Vertical storage. Finding enough space to store large baking sheets, trays, and cutting boards is often a challenge. This clever pull-out eliminates the hassle of stacking heavy trays and shallow trays on top of each other. Anyway, why do you need pallets always be at the bottom of a stack of pallets?

5. Spice rack. One of the things I really like about these narrow base cabinet drawers is that they usually fill the space on either side of the oven. It’s also an ideal place for experimental chefs who always want to add more spice to their dishes.

6. Between the brooms. I don’t know why, but the space where cleaning supplies are stored (usually dimly lit closets) can always get a little messy. Try to keep items organized by adding a pull-out device specifically for them.

7. Pull out the ironing board. If you want to let some wrinkles slip off your clothes because it is too much trouble to drag the ironing board out of your closet and install it, then this drawer could be the key to a fresh ironing lifestyle.

8. Pull out the appliance. Keep counters free and clear, look neat and tidy, and leave more room for cooking preparation and entertainment. Appliance pull-outs provide easy access to everyday items like a toaster or coffee maker that slide out quickly and can be easily hidden when not in use.

9. Bars. Turn your kitchen into a tasting bar with slide-out tables and wine racks. Add glass storage and you’ll be able to open a few bottles and start tasting.

10. Towel rack. Dirty rags can be ugly, but tucking them in a drawer without letting them dry can promote mold and unpleasant odors. The towel rack pull-out device allows wet towels to dry even when hidden out of sight. The trays at the top and bottom of this pull-out provide additional storage space for cleaning supplies.

11. Pet bowl drawer. The pet bowl’s pull-out device is a great way to keep your furry four-legged best friend fed and watered, and thanks to its ability to slide away, it’s also a great way to keep guests from kicking over the water bowl.

12. Kick room drawer. When you think you’ve run out of possible storage space in your kitchen, there’s a 4 to 5 inch of space under your base cabinet to store baking sheets, shallow dishes, cutting boards, or just plain old trash.
